Buhler Staff and Families, Happy New Year! 2025 has started out with a little fog, freezing drizzle, sleet, snow, wind, and low wind chills. We got all winter has to offer in 48 hours. Due to the road conditions, Buhler Schools will be closed Monday, January 6th. Because of the severity of road conditions, our daycares, Buhler Beginnings and Crusader Corner, will also be closed Monday, January 6th. Our December Core Essential Value is SERVICE. This month, service will be defined, explained, role modeled and encouraged as "lending a hand to help someone else." Tis the season of giving so why not leverage the gift of service as a way to help others!

SAVE THE DATE! On January 17th, 2025 the Buhler Education Foundation will be hosting Dueling Pianos in the brand NEW 1861 Club on the state fairgrounds. In addition to the excellent entertainment there will be raffles, amazing local flavors, and opportunities to learn how the foundation serves our students and schools. Mrs. Adams teaches 3rd grade at Union Valley Mrs. Denise Ingalls is our secondary nominee. Mrs. Ingalls teaches 6th grade social studies at Prairie Hills. We had the privilege to notify two of our teachers that they have been nominated for the Kansas Horizon Award! Each year the Kansas State Department of Education recognizes exceptional 2nd year teachers through this award. Our nominees this year are Mr. Brayden Witthuhn, 5th grade teacher at Union Valley, and Mrs. Rylie Sanders, Vo-Ag and Industrial Technology Teacher at BHS. They each completed an exceptional first year of teaching in May and will represent our district well through the application process! Congratulations, Brayden and Rylie! Congratulations to our Prairie Hills Middle School Jazz Band for their outstanding achievement in being selected to perform at the Kansas Music Educators Association (KMEA) state conference! This group was selected by blind audition and will be one of only seven middle school groups from around the state to perform at this conference. The PHMS Jazz Band meets twice weekly before school at 7am, starting in October and running through May. This prestigious invitation is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and exceptional talent!
